Final Crit FYP 1

1. Overall Ideation


¨In this project I will make a video interactive of Saman dance.
¨Since Saman dance have so many different movement in one dance, so I will take a special movement that show a meaningful message.
¨ I will make people feel like they are one of the dancers in Saman dance formation dancer. Not only feel like that, I will make they feel the message in each movement of Saman dance.


2. Problem Identification

¨How to preserve the meaning of Saman Dance.

¨How to deliver the meaning of Saman Dance to the audience.

3. Chosen Issue
¨I chose the issue of the unity in Saman Dance.

¨Since in Saman Dance is a group dance, Saman dance prioritize the elements of unity and harmony in dance, to look nice and neat.

4. Research Comparison

¨I compare Saman Dance with the group dances in Malaysia.

¨First is India Dance, in India Dance also require the unity, but sometimes they have some movements that they do individually.

¨Second is Chinese Dance. Chinese dance that I chose for my research comparison is Fan Chinese Dance.

¨In this dance, similarly with Saman Dance, because they require the unity, harmony and solidarity.

¨Last but not least, my research comparison about Zapin Malaysia Dance.

¨In Zapin Malaysia Dance, they also require the unity, but mostly they do in couple.

1. Research Topic

A study of preservation of movement in Saman Dance.

2. Background

In this era, not many people know what is Saman Dance, but when they know what is that, they really want to know how to dance Saman Dance. For my FYP I will preserve the movement and will bring it to the audience. Every movement in Saman Dance has a different meanings, so it’s kind of interesting to preserve the meaning in each movement. This is also another media of making positive impact thru every movements display.

3. Problem Identification

How to preserve the meaning of every movement in Saman Dance.

4. Ideation

In this project I will make a video interactive of Saman dance. The interactive that I mean is not a highly technology such as Kinect Xbox or something else, the interactive that I mean is people can involve with the dancer indirectly. Since Saman dance have so many different movement in one dance, so I will take a special movement that show a meaningful message.

I will make people feel like they are one of the dancers in Saman dance formation dancer. Not only feel like that, I will make they feel the message in each movement of Saman dance.

5. Objectives

My objectives why I make a preservation of movement in Saman dance is to make people know the meaning of Saman dance. One of the most objectives that I will show the unity in Saman dance, it’s kind interesting when we almost forget about the unity in the world.

6. Motivation

Make interesting when the dancer dance and deliver the message of the meaning of Saman Dance. The unity of movements among all performers will enhance the strength of a proverb, but I did not want the audience feel like forced to learn the unity, I want the audience feel the unity indirectly thru the dance.

1. Research Topic

A preservation of unity in Gamelan Music.

                                                     

2. Background

Nowadays, there is much music in the world, but have you ever heard about Gamelan Music? Gamelan is a traditional musical ensemble from Indonesia. Gamelan Music is not played only 2 or 3 people in the group, in Gamelan Music got 6 until 7 people in Gamelan group, this is like showing the unity and because of that they can produce a nice music harmony. I will preserve the sound and make people playing Gamelan Music together, because Gamelan cannot play individually, so it is like bring the unity thru the music. Not only bring the unity, they will know what the meaning of the music.

3. Problem Identification

How to preserve the unity thru the Gamelan music and how to deliver the meaning of the song.

4. Aim and Objectives

To bring unity back thru the music.

5. Motivation

Make the audience feel the unity from Gamelan Music, so they will remember from the unity they can make something nice and beautiful.
